Middle School Drama

Middle School Theatre and Drama Studies

Theatre and Drama Studies provides students with skills for acting on the stage. Students work individually and in groups to present various types of characters in several different performance styles, focusing of a range of both comedy and drama. Students have the opportunity to write their own monologues, duologues and large group performances, as well as working with historical and new age scripts.
Students will also develop an understanding of the behind the scenes work that takes place in the theatre. Students consider stage elements such as lighting, sound, costume, setting etc. As a part of all middle school Drama subjects, students will get the opportunity to view these stage elements in a professional play.
Theatre and Drama Studies encourages students to develop the appropriate communication skills and self-confidence required for stage performance, public speaking and formal presentations, while educating students with the life skills of teamwork, leadership and self-confidence.
