Year 7 Drama

At Somerville Secondary College the Year 7 Drama program aims to develop in students the ability to independently and collaboratively plan, design and improvise dramatic art works. Students experiment with the dramatic techniques of Mime, Puppetry and Improvisation. They experiment with, select and use appropriate skills and techniques across a range of art forms and styles, while using a variety of stimuli including poems, photographs and comic strips to plan and develop short sketches for class.
Throughout the Drama experience students are required to maintain a drama journal of the creating and making process while also reflecting on their performance decisions and performance skills. Somerville Secondary College has also moved into the future and the junior Drama students are completing their Drama journals via the school Drama Blog. The Drama blog is designed for students to access both at home and at school. Students reflect on what they have learnt in class, what they want to improve on and how they thought their lesson went.
