WELCOME TO SOMERVILLE SECONDARY COLLEGE
It is a privilege to welcome you to Somerville Secondary College and an honour to serve as Principal of a school with such a strong connection to its students, families and the wider Mornington Peninsula community.
As I begin my time as Principal, I am excited by the opportunity to build upon the strengths of the College while working alongside our students, staff, families and community to shape the next chapter of Somerville Secondary College.
I believe that great schools are places where every young person is known, valued, challenged and supported to achieve their best. Our responsibility extends beyond academic achievement. We want our students to leave Somerville Secondary College as confident, capable and compassionate young people, equipped with the knowledge, skills and character to successfully navigate their chosen pathway and contribute positively to their community.

At the heart of this is excellent teaching and learning. We hold high expectations for every student and are committed to providing engaging, purposeful and challenging learning experiences. Through evidence-informed teaching, a strong and responsive curriculum and a commitment to continually improving our practice, we aim to ensure that every student experiences success and growth.
Just as importantly, students learn best when they feel safe, connected and that they belong. Positive relationships between students, staff and families are fundamental to a successful school. We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where diversity is valued, student voice is heard and young people are encouraged to be active participants in their learning and in the life of the College.
Somerville Secondary College is also uniquely positioned within its community. We recognise that success looks different for every student and that there is no single pathway beyond school. Our broad academic, vocational and applied learning opportunities allow students to discover their strengths, pursue their interests and develop meaningful pathways towards further education, training and employment.
I believe strongly that educating young people is a partnership. As Principal, I am committed to building relationships characterised by trust, respect, openness and high expectations, and to ensuring our community has a genuine voice in the future direction of the College.
As we look to the future, my aspiration is for Somerville Secondary College to be a school our community is proud of — a school recognised for the quality of its teaching, the strength of its relationships, its inclusive culture and its unwavering belief in the potential of every young person.
