What does transition look like at SSC?
Each student is placed in a form group with whom they will spend most of their class time.
As part of form group, a team of teachers as well as the Subschool Leader and the wellbeing team will work closely together oversee your child’s social, emotional and academic progress. These sessions cover topics designed to enhance student learning, social awareness and emotional development.
Year 7 Connection Program – Velocity
Our Year 7 Connection Program is a program where our current, trained student mentors support new Year 7 students to learn more about the school and give them strategies and skills to manage life to settle in at Somerville Secondary College.
Year 7 camp
The camp to Phillip Island in Term 1 is an important part of our Transition Program. It assists students to build strong peer and teacher connections. Students participate in a range of fun and challenging cooperative activities that are designed to enhance teamwork, relationship building, communication and self-confidence.
